OK...I'm sure some of you are tired of hearing about this BUT the Terri Schiavo case is ripping my heart out! What they are doing by removing Terri's feeding tube is nothing short of cold blooded torture and murder. HELL even serial killers are killed quickly and fairly painlessly! What has this young woman done to be forced to suffer an agonizing death of dehydration and starvation?

When I first heard about the case I was under the misconception that Terri was a vegtable. I figured she was laying motionless on a coma like condition day after day. I figured she was hooked up to life support machines day and night. I assumed that this was a mercy killing, they would "pull the plug" and it would all be over.   

Dear God I couldn't have been more wrong.

Terri is NOT on life support any more then you or I am. I don't consider that feeding tube to be life support. I have to eat too!

This young woman suffered brain damage, she is not brain dead. She suffered brain damage in 1990 when her heart stopped for a few minutes from a chemical imbalance they believe was caused by an eating disorder. Why else will this man who will surely burn in hell for what he is doing (if there is ANY justice he will spend eternity hungry and thirsty), why else would he refuse to divorce her and leave her to the mother, father and sister who love her. I won't go further into the husband as the man makes me want to puke.

I will tell you now that I have never voted for the president of the United States of America. Those that know me know that I have never felt they gave me a canidate really worth voting for...I tell you now...If Jeb Bush ever runs for president ...this stubborn, bullheaded girl WILL VOTE FOR JEB! Okay...I am crying right now and so madf that I am shaking. That goes BEYOND cruel and unusual. They do not even starve/dehydrate our prisoners to death. All I can think to say is if that was my blood...or even a friend...that SICK demented SON OF A BITCH husband would be dead. This was the first I have heard of this case TT and it has really worked me up. I will pray for her and the rest of the women who trust the men they married to watch out for their best interest.

I just heard that Terri died and I am so sand and angry. I am not sure how to stick up for my country when our courts did this terrible thing. well...I hope I won't be stoned for my opinion here but I am glad that her suffering is finally over. She was in a coma for 15 years with chances lower than winning the lottery to ever wake up. The first article of the German constitution says "The dignity of humans is untouchable." (Art. 1 Abs. 1, GG). And in my opinion such suffering, isn't connected to dignity at all. Don't get me wrong...of course it's sad that she died but if she were one of my relatives I would want them to go without much suffering, and I would want the same for myself too. We do put our pets to sleep when they are suffering too much, but we're not allowed to give the same opportunity for human beings.

The way I understood it, she once did sign a paper that said that she didn't want her life being extended artificially...so, she made this kind of choice for her life when she was still all healthy, both physically and psychological.

It's a very torn topic...and trust me we've had lots of talks about euthanasia in Europe. In the Netherlands it's practiced under very, very strict rules...

well...I'll stop rambling now...I'm torn but no one deserves to suffer that long, if I happen to be in such a situation one day, I hope my family makes the right decision and lets me go peacefully rather sooner than later.

I promise not to stone you Mel HOWEVER...Terri was not in a coma. She WAS responding to loved ones, smiling, cooing, and trying to respond. She WAS NOT hooked up to life support systems to support breathing or brain activity. The only support was the feeding tube. I don't consider food to be artificial life.

You are right..I would not want a loved one or even a pet to suffer. If this HAD to be done then Terri deserved the same consideration that we give our family pets and even convicted SERIAL KILLERS...make her death quick and painless...13 DAYS of starvation and dehydration DOES NOT sound like quick and painless to me.

I have to agree here. A feeding tube is NOT life support. There was a time when they wanted to use one for my grandmother after she had a brain shunt put in to relieve the fluid pressure build up from an anuerism. However, she still would have been able to do everything but EAT. They use feeding tubes on premies who don't have the suckle reflex, but that does not mean that they should just be left to starve or dehydrate to death. I would not want my life to be sustained by breathing machines. I would not want to live life as a vegetable or be kept alive if I was brain dead. From what I understand, she was reactive and happy. It sounds to me not like a mercy killing, but more like the pet owners who take their animals to the vet to be put to sleep because they don't want them anymore. My heat, prayers, thoughts and love go out to her family. This SHOULD have been their choice, not his since he had already moved on with his life. :-(

I don't understand that either... Sometimes, there are things especially between married couple that just stays between the sheets. Heck, even for me, I have certain wishes that my family knows about but I don't have it in writing as in a will. The price in getting a legal document of such has gone up since the case! I'm sure if they would've known that this would've been a "CASE", I'm sure they would've made the conscious effort and decision to get it legally documented. Just my 2 cents...
